Ironhouse breaks ground

Groundbreaking for new plant
MEMBERS OF THE Iron House Sanitary District board of directors and staff recently broke ground for the new wastewater plant: from left, Jenny Skrel, ISD engineer; Chris Lauritzen, board member; Tom Williams, ISD general manager; Lenny Byer, board chairman; Don Lew, board member, and Doug Hardcastle, board member. The plant is expected to be completed by October 2011.

Welcome to Oakley Now

This is the blogspot for Roni Gehlke, columnist for the East County Times. I've been an Oakley resident for eighteen years. During that time I've worked with many groups and organizations, as well as written a weekly column for the East County Times and Brentwood- Oakley-Antioch News newspapers. The focus of my column is all about Oakley, California. I cover everything from City Hall, the business community, clubs and organizations and the community at large. Along with the columns I have a regular weekly feature on East County Businesses in the News newspapers where I write about new and existing businesses and restaurants from Discovery Bay, Brentwood, Byron, Knightsen, Bethel Island, Oakley and Antioch. I also write local interest stories for the papers as a corespondent. I'm always looking for interesting local stories. The subject matter must be Oakley, California, so please don't bother sending me information about outside of my area. I won't be able to write about it no matter how interesting the subject matter.
